The School of Economics at Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) held the opening ceremony for the Class of 2027 Freshmen on the afternoon of September 24, 2023, at the Dongfeng Square of Feicuihu Campus. The event was attended by school leaders, faculty representatives, Clark University representatives, all undergraduate and postgraduate freshmen, and some students’ parents. The ceremony was presided over by Xie Jingjing, the deputy secretary of the school’s party committee.

Hong Jin, the dean of the school, extended a warm welcome and congratulations to the arrival of the students of 2027 on behalf of the entire faculty and students. He provided a comprehensive overview of the school, highlighting recent achievements and emphasizing the distinctive approach to talent development. Hong Jin encouraged students to find inspiration and strive for success at the school, which features a vibrant, inclusive, and innovative academic atmosphere.

At the ceremony, Ercan Balci, director of the American Language and Culture Institute at Clark University, delivered a speech on behalf of Clark University, introducing general information about Clark University and the collaborative programs with our school. He warmly welcomed the students to study at Clark University and expressed his desire to continue the close partnership with the school and provide students with top learning experiences.

As the faculty representative, Associate professor Song Pingfan from the Department of Economics encouraged students to value their health and cultivate an optimistic attitude. He advised students to have passion for their studies, and actively participate in activities on campus.

At the ceremony, Han Lina, representing the first-year graduate students, emphasized the importance of seeking knowledge. She will move forward through reflection, questioning, and exploration.Representing undergraduate freshmen, Tan Hao emphasized the importance of both academic learning and extracurricular activities and encouraged everyone to make the most of their four years in university and strive to achieve satisfactory results.

This opening ceremony is an essential part of the orientation education of new students at the HFUT School of Economics, aiming to guide students to adapt to campus life and provide direction for their university studies. Through the opening ceremony, students were nurtured with a strong sense of school pride, and their enthusiasm for contributing to the industrial development in China was stimulated.
