Xiaohui Tan is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Hefei University of Technology (HFUT). She received her master's degree from Chongqing University and her doctor's degree from HFUT. Her research focuses on the probabilistic analysis for geotechnical and geological engineering, such as the reliability analysis and numerical simulation methods of slopes and deep foundations; the identification and risk assessment of geological hazards; and soil-water characteristics and variability analysis of unsaturated soils. She is currently an executive manager of the Risk and Insurance Branch of Chinese civil engineering society and a manager of the Landslide and Engineering Slope Branch of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering; a member of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering; and an editor of the international journal Engineering Geology. She is a reviewer of more than 50 famous professional journals at home and abroad. She has chaired and participated in a number of scientific research projects, such as National Natural Science Foundation, National Key Research and Development Program, Postdoctoral Science Foundation and so on. She has won the second Prize of Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Education three times and the first prize of Science and Technology Progress of Anhui Province. She has published more than 150 academic papers in professional core journals and obtained more than 15 patents and software Copyrights.
