系列报告简介:
This 10-week webinar will present advanced topics in modern power systems. The increasing penetration of renewable and distributed generation connected at the distribution networks creates a number of challenges and provides new opportunities for a more efficient and secure system operation. The integration of distributed energy resources results in a drastic increase in the penetration of power electronics that interface these resources that change the operating philosophy, but also provide effective control capabilities. In particular, the increased penetration of DER allows a more decentralized operation of the system that increases its efficiency, reliability and resilience. The coordinated operation of DER at the distribution level leads to the concept of microgrids, that are able to unlock the full benefits of DER. Microgrids control is not straightforward, it faces many challenges at the primary and secondary levels due to their unique characteristics, e.g. small size, short lines, high resistances, low short circuit currents, etc. Several techniques have been developed and applied that will be reviewed in the webinar. These techniques need to be tested in realistic environments before their deployment in the field. This is achieved through advanced Hardware in the Loop applications, which will be described in the webinar. The techniques used for Microgrids’ control can be broadly distinguished in centralized, distributed and decentralized techniques. These techniques will be presented and discussed. The Blockchain technology is a special decentralized technology that is lately attracting interest. Blockchain applications in power system operation have distinct advantages regarding cybersecurity, etc. and characteristic examples will be also presented in the webinar. The increased operation of renewable energy sources increases the uncertainty of operation and makes the development of accurate forecasting techniques indispensable. In the webinar advanced forecasting techniques for wind and solar production, as well as demand, will be described and characteristic applications will be presented.
