l Department of Structural Engineering

The university currently offers an undergraduate program in Civil Engineering (Architectural Engineering), with Master's degree authorization in Structural Engineering and Disaster Prevention, Reduction, and Protection Engineering as secondary disciplines. There is also a Master's degree program in Architectural and Civil Engineering, and a doctoral program in Structural Engineering and Disaster Prevention, Reduction, and Protection Engineering as secondary disciplines within the Civil Engineering primary discipline. Additionally, there is a doctoral postdoctoral research station in Civil Engineering. Structural Engineering is recognized as a key discipline in Anhui Province. The Civil Engineering program is designated as a national distinctive specialty and is part of the first batch of pilot programs for the Outstanding Engineer Education Training Program in China. The program has successfully passed national evaluations in 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2012. The Department of Architectural Engineering enrolls approximately 200 undergraduate students each year in Civil Engineering with specializations in Architectural Engineering and Engineering Management. The department also admits around 100 doctoral and master's students annually, with 10 master's students specializing in Disaster Prevention and Reduction Engineering. Students come from thirty provinces and cities nationwide, demonstrating high academic qualifications and entrance exam scores.

l Department of Bridge and Underground Engineering

The Department of Highway and Underground Engineering traces its origins back to the establishment of the Highway and Urban Road Engineering program in 1984, boasting nearly 40 years of academic history. In response to the demands of academic growth, the Road and Bridge Engineering Department was founded in 2004, and in June 2021, it was renamed the Department of Highway, Bridge, and Underground Engineering. The department boasts a robust faculty and well-equipped teaching and experimental facilities. As of the end of June 2023, the department has 40 faculty members, including 8 professors (with senior titles), 18 associate professors (with associate senior titles), and 14 lecturers (with intermediate titles) as indicated in the table below. Among them, there are 7 doctoral supervisors and 23 master's supervisors.

l Department of Municipal Engineering

In 1987, Hefei University of Technology established the Water Supply and Drainage Engineering program. In response to the needs of academic development, the Municipal Engineering Department was founded in 1998. In recent years, through the collective efforts of faculty and students, the Municipal Engineering Department has made significant strides in discipline construction, achieving notable accomplishments. In 2018, the department once again passed the evaluation and certification by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, with a validity period of 6 years. In 2019, it was designated as the Engineering Laboratory of Anhui Province, and in 2021, it was approved as a national first-class undergraduate program construction site. As of the end of July 2021, the department has 17 faculty members, including 6 professors (with senior titles), 5 associate professors (with associate senior titles), and 6 lecturers (with intermediate titles), as shown in the table below. Among them, there are 4 doctoral supervisors and 12 master's supervisors. The department boasts a strong faculty, well-equipped teaching and experimental facilities, including laboratories for water quality analysis, environmental chemical analysis, hydraulic modeling experiments, and more.

l Department of Building Environmental Engineering

The major of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering began nurturing talents in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) field in 1960, affiliated with the Industrial and Civil Building major. In 1989, it pioneered the establishment of HVAC specialization in Anhui Province and introduced a dedicated HVAC program. In 1998, the Department of Building Environment and Technology Engineering was established. In 2002, it started admitting undergraduate students majoring in Building Environment and Equipment Engineering. In 2006, it began enrolling master's students in Heating, Gas Supply, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Engineering. In 2010, it was approved as a first-tier discipline for a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, with a second-tier discipline in Heating, Gas Supply, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Engineering. This program is a comprehensive reform pilot in Anhui Province and one of the first batch of disciplines selected for the Six Excellence and One Top Excellence Plan 2.0. It successfully underwent the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development's professional assessment and certification in 2017, and the mid-term inspection of the professional evaluation and certification in 2019.

l Department of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering

The Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering Department has a long history, tracing its roots back to the establishment of the Huaihe River Water Conservancy School in 1952 under the Huai River Water Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources. In 1975, it evolved into the Water Conservancy Department of Hefei University of Technology. In 1982, 1984, and 1986, it was approved for Master's programs in Hydraulic Structure Engineering, Hydrology and Water Resources, and Hydraulic and River Dynamics, respectively. In 2011, based on the first-tier discipline of Civil Engineering for doctoral degrees, it independently established a second-tier discipline for doctoral degrees in Water Resources Engineering and Structures, encompassing three academic directions: Water Conservancy Geotechnical Engineering, Water Conservancy Structural Engineering, and Water Resources and Water Environment Engineering. The Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering major offered by this department successfully underwent national engineering education professional certification in 2013 and 2019, both receiving a six-year validity period. In 2020, it was selected as one of the first national-level excellent undergraduate program construction sites (Double-First Class Initiative).

l Department of Engineering Mechanics

The Mechanics discipline at Hefei University of Technology was established in the 1950s. In 1981 and 1986, it obtained the Master's degree-granting rights in Solid Mechanics and Engineering Mechanics, respectively. In 2000, it gained the right to award doctoral degrees in Engineering Mechanics. In 2002, it was designated as a key discipline in Anhui Province. In 2003, it was approved as the Engineering Mechanics Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Anhui Province. In 2011 and 2018, it respectively obtained the Master's and Ph.D. degree-granting rights in Mechanics as a first-tier discipline. The discipline boasts a strong faculty with over 30 full-time teachers, including 7 professors, 19 associate professors/senior experimentalists, and 8 lecturers. Among them, there are 8 doctoral supervisors and 24 master's supervisors. Nearly 40% of the teachers have overseas experience. The faculty includes distinguished individuals such as one recipient of the national Thousand Talents Program for Young Outstanding Scientists, one awardee of the Ministry of Education's Huo Yingdong Young Teachers Award, one national model teacher and ethical model, one Anhui provincial teaching master, one Anhui provincial labor competition advanced individual, and four Hefei University of Technology Yellow Mountain Young Scholars.

l Department of Surveying and Mapping Engineering

The Surveying and Mapping discipline at Hefei University of Technology has a rich history, with the Surveying Laboratory and Laboratory being among the earliest teaching units established at the university. In 1952, Professor Lv Jifang, the president of the predecessor of Hefei University of Technology, Huainan Coal Professional School, was a renowned national expert in railway surveying and authored the book Railway Surveying. After the reform and opening-up, the faculty of the Surveying Teaching and Research Office, which was under the original Department of Architectural Engineering, was strengthened. In addition to teaching surveying courses for related majors across the university, the office also undertook significant research projects such as the Research on Giant Pulse Laser Rangefinder, Development of Automatic Anping Level, and Research on Precision Engineering Measurement of National Synchrotron Radiation Accelerator. In 1978, they received the Major Scientific and Technological Achievement Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Science Congress Award.

l Department of Urban Construction Engineering, Xuancheng

The Department of Urban Construction Engineering in the School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering at Hefei University of Technology was established in June 2018. It was renamed from the Department of Architectural Engineering, one of the first five departments created in 2012 at Hefei University of Technology (Xuancheng Campus). The major in Urban Underground Space Engineering began admitting undergraduate students in 2018, previously admitting students under the Civil Engineering major with a focus on Urban Underground Space Engineering.

l Experimental Center

Our experimental center was established in 2012, evolving from the reorganization and consolidation of departmental laboratories into an independent educational institution. The center comprises 10 specialized laboratories, including the Engineering Structures Laboratory, Building Materials Laboratory, Geospatial Information and Measurement Laboratory, Building Environment and Equipment Laboratory, Geotechnical Mechanics Laboratory, Hydraulics Laboratory, BIM Informatization and Virtual Simulation Teaching Center, Water Supply and Drainage Laboratory, Mechanics Laboratory, and Urban Construction Engineering Laboratory. These laboratories are distributed across three campuses: Tunxi Road, Feicui Lake, and Xuancheng, with a total of 119 rooms and a combined floor area of 11,366 square meters. The current value of the center's equipment is approximately 50 million yuan, with 15 major instruments valued at over 400,000 yuan each. These include the MTS hydraulic servo system, seismic simulation shaking table, NI data acquisition system, environmental coupling loading experimental platform, ultra-high-weight drop hammer system, 1200t multifunctional large-scale testing system, high-speed camera, dynamic foam analysis instrument, electromagnetic vibration table, non-contact testing system, Hopkinson pull rod test system, high-performance computing platform, gas-phase gas chromatography-mass spectrometry instrument, acoustic emission data acquisition system, standard stress path triaxial tester, and others. The major precision equipment in the experimental center is fully integrated into the precision instrument sharing service platform, providing services for scientific experiments to faculty and students.
